The Sound of Silence

All our guests are gone - only the Sound of Silence remains. We had a great party this weekend for son home from Afghanistan. The 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off was definitely a hit. We will do this again. We had 6 or 7 different chili's - never declared a winner since all were wonderful! Our homemade Tamales were good.

Son seems to be a little more rested. In 7 days we will put him back on a plane to the war. His sweet wife is already getting weepy about his departure! I do think it is harder to say goodbye from a leave. Every day brings us closer to his return in September.

We had lots of family and friends here this weekend. Sweet niece from Houston and her precious little boy were here. I had not seen him since he was a few months old. He will be 3 in April! He is such a sweetie! My Aunt and Uncle were here. It was such a wonderful treat for them to be here. Several of my old friends from the bank were here as well. It was so good to reconnect with some old friendships. Why do we let relationships slide with people we really care about? Life gets way too busy - I really need to slow things down and make time for all those people that are important to me!!!
