Computer Problems - Best Sailing Ever

The only thing worse than computer problems are car problems or maybe locking your keys in the car and I have had both!!!! About a week ago, a really bad Texas thunderstorm rolled in, lots of lightning and thunder. Electricity blinked several times......then no Internet connection. First I call Internet provider, then tell me I have a bad cable - go buy another cable, doesn't help. Then I take my computer to have it checked out - enet card is fried! They install a new one, still can't get to Internet.......On trip number 4 to the computer store, I lock both my keys and the computer in the car!!!! Once I finally get home, I borrow my mother's computer and still can't get to the Internet, spend yet another hour with Internet provider on the phone and finally determine maybe it is my cable modem. Newsflash, I had only told them that about a dozen times.

Computer guy finally gets here about 3:30 and sets up a new modem and I am back in business, now just have to go get other computer from store pick up my computer and hope that it works as well!!! Lordy, I don't know what I did before Internet, yes I think I am addicted, my link to the outside world!!!

Pick up old computer and then I am back in business! Now back to phone and key problems!

Thursday - We went sailing - probably on the best sailing days ever! Nice long sail - medium wind only one boat on the lake - best time to go is definitely during the week when the weekend crazies are working! I just laid on the deck looking up at the sails and the sky - what a wonderful day! I must get some pictures of that view - sails and blue sky - absolutely beautiful. It was a little hot- but as long as we had a little wind it was good. After sailing, we went swimming to cool off - we had the pool to ourselves.

Now for the rest of the story - left my phone on the boat. I can't tell you how attached to my cell phone I am. I really can't go anywhere without it. Used husband's phone - thought the battery was run down, couldn't get it on - I am just technically challenged - I just did not know how to turn it on! Went to the AT&T store to get him a new phone and the girl showed me how to turn it on! Yea - I did not have to buy another phone. Sweet husband picked up my phone yesterday, so I am back in business.

Another Sailing Adventure!

Just another Monday! Each time we go out on our boat it is a new adventure. My husband and I are trying to exercise more - so we decided to drive to a bicycle trail and ride before sailing - the web site said a 4.20 mile loop - well 6.78 miles we finally got back to our car! Last weekend we had our grand kids and took them on a bicycle ride - our Church Criterium! Took some great pictures hope to post soon. Today's ride was good - just a little less than an hour! Then quick sandwich from subway then on to the boat. Just as we got to the marina, it started to rain. First rain we have had in about a month - much needed - but not wanted just as we were opening up everything! After the rain quit, we did get in a good sail. Wind was good and it was nice and cool on the lake. Our temp has been hovering at 99-103 for the past few weeks! A fierce wind kicked up with 2 to 3 foot white caps! The boat handles the water just fine - it is just a little hard to get back to our marina. We were some worried that the wind would make it quite hard to dock the boat in our slip, but once back to the marina, it was quite calm, thank goodness.

We are heading to the boat again this afternoon - bicycles still loaded from Monday - and no we haven't exercised since then - I have had a bad bout with sinus and have felt rather icky and lazy. Also spend the afternoon yesterday with mom at a financial advisor getting her investments in order! Today, we are going to ride in the neighborhood around the marina, then take the boat out.

I am also going to break down and order a laptop, I am always competing with my husband for the computer!!! My husband is becoming an eBay and Craig's list junkie! He is 67 and until about 1 year ago completely afraid of the computer. He can navigate pretty good-but still won't make a bid or check emails! We have found several items on eBay we need for the boat at a very good price! I have also discovered auction sniper -thanks to brother-in-law--snipes are a very good way to win eBay bids!!!!

Beautiful East Texas

What a beautiful Day! I have spent the past few days with my sister-in-law. We have really had a good time. I have exercised each morning--walking in my niece's pasture. The rolling hills and pine trees are wonderful. The yard had lots of trees and is so peaceful. We had coffee outside this morning and really enjoyed! Mother has enjoyed the visit as well, and her blood sugar is down to a better level. Yesterday it was 161 - I so hope she will eat better and keep it lower. We are going to make an appointment with a diabetes specialist! We have sat at the computers and really enjoyed the view out the office window. I am going to miss this when I get home! My brother in law taught me a new tool for ebay bids - so much fun! I will definately use it at home!!! We are heading back to the metroplex today so I will miss Beautiful East Texas!

B & C Tour

Bicycle Beer barn and Church Tour. There are about half a dozen churches and beer barns within a few miles of our house - so I have named our neighborhood bicycle rides. There is also a church that has a 1/4 mile parking lot that we can really pedal fast in - thus our Church Criterium! We are trying to exercise every day but it has it been sooooooo hot! This past weekend it was 103 with a heat index of 110. Now folks that is hot! I have been in East Texas at my sister-in-laws for a few days and have walked in the horse pasture. It is really peaceful here - hope to spend much more time with my only sister-in-law! We finally got a reprieve from the heat today with a little shower and about a ten degree drop in the temperature.

I am trying to eat healthier and lose some of the excess pounds I have packed on in the past few years! I started weight watchers in January of this year and did good till April, then sort of fell off the wagon, but I am back on track - I have lost 17.3 pounds. I really need to lose 50-75 pounds to be at a better size for me! Dieting is always hard and never gets easy! My mom has diabetes and so did my grandmother, so I really need to get my weight at a better place - I certainly do not want to battle that disease in later life!!!
